MMPI-2 RF

The MMPI-2 Restructured Form (MMPI-2-RF) is an updated version of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, 2nd Edition (MMPI-2). The original MMPI-2 was developed to assess personality traits and psychopathology, but it had some limitations, such as overlapping scales and ambiguous factor structure.

The Restructured Form

The MMPI-2-RF addresses these issues by reorganizing the test into a more streamlined and coherent structure. It consists of 50 items that are grouped into 10 higher-order scales, which can be further divided into 42 lower-order scales.

3. Reduced item overlap: The new version eliminates many items that overlapped between scales in the original MMPI-2, reducing redundancy and improving scale specificity.
4. New content: Some new items have been added to cover topics that were not adequately addressed in the original test.

The test is widely used in various settings, including clinical, research, and forensic contexts, for assessing personality traits, psychopathology, and behavioral characteristics.

Texas Security Licensing Requirement

In addition to its widespread use in general assessment, the MMPI-2-RF plays a critical role in the licensing process for security officers in Texas. As of January 1, 2024, all Level 3 licensed security officers are required to submit an MMPI evaluation as part of their initial licensing application or renewal process, building on the existing requirement for Level 4 officers that was introduced prior to this date. This mandate added in OC 1702.163 underscores the importance of psychological evaluations in ensuring public safety and promoting professionalism within the industry.
